Hey, Most relationships are complex at first, especially in the first five years when you're building your foundation. Effective self-communication is crucial, as is addressing arguments head-on. Arguments reveal weaknesses and help strengthen your bond. Negotiation, arbitration, reconciliation, and compromise are essential early on to ensure long-term stability. Avoiding these can be detrimental, as unresolved issues become harder to address later. Love and sacrifice are vital, but the first five years are truly a test. Finding someone who complements you, and working together to navigate challenges is fruitful. Remember, love requires time, patience, and effort. Hope this helped.
Agreed, and thanks for sharing those words of wisdom 🙌 If we can look past an argument and address what it's signaling, we give ourselves a chance to overcome a challenge quicker, more effectively and build trust. I will say though that since every relationship and situation is unique, things can be smoother for some couples than for others for a variety of reasons. For some, it'll be rocky for a few months before it gets better - for others, it's 2 years, for others it's 3 years, for others it's 5. There's no fixed process when it comes to relationships. What I've found helpful is to 1) remember that we don't come with a relationship 101 manual (so issues aren't automatically a sign we're with the wrong person) 2) understand the cycle a relationship typically goes through & how to move past the power struggle phase if both people are willing to make it work 3) learn what it takes to build a healthy relationship so that we can feel confident when we choose who we want to be with and don't sabotage a potentially great relationship. I appreciate you!
